My grandpa is living alone in his own house. We tried to get him to move in with us after our grandma passed away but he was adament on living in his own house. He is relatively weak and gets around with a walking stick. As such, my wife and I are looking to make sure his house is as safe for him as it is possible. How should I go about it? I read online that there is something like a home assessment but we are not sure how and where we can get this done. Please anybody with any knowledge on this, we will appreciate your help.

Hey Eugene, I think you can do a home assessment with an occupational therapist (OT). They should be able to do an evaluation of your grandpa's home and identify hazards, etc. I think they can also recommend modifications or equipments/devices to improve mobility and safety of the house. Hope this helps!!
